Theme: James: Faith in Action

Brethren,

Happy New MOnth. I trust this meets you and your family well.

As you and I know, it is far easier to think about and talk about the brevity of our lives and our dependence on God than it is to live it. That is the issue we address this Sunday as we look at ‘Life and wealth in perspective’, as we continue our quarter series on Faith in Action.

Key Learnings points include:
1. Our lives are like a mist, frail, short, soon disappearing, and not even in our hands. So, we need to bracket the way we live and plan with this reality of the fragility and brevity of our lives.
2. God is Sovereign and we are not. So, all planning for the future should, not only be anchored in, ‘if the Lord wills’ but also should manifest that reality of the sovereignty of God. We cannot boast about tomorrow because the outcome of tomorrow is not in our hands.
3. God considers it presumptuous for anyone to think and act as if s/he can live and move and have our being independent of God. This boastful arrogance is the root of all sin, as was the case with Lucifer.
