Theme: Servant Leadership

Brethren,

I trust this meets you well.

As we prayerfully wait for the big day tomorrow, let us allow this study to remind us of what we all are yearning for – purposeful leadership.

Key learning points include:

  1. Purposeful leadership starts with an unflinching commitment to following God and doing what pleases Him. From beginning to the end, Josiah focused his leadership towards doing what is right in the sight of God, not man. Josiah was 100% committed to following the ways of God like his ancestor, David, not turning from it to the left or to the right. Purposeful leadership restored a whole nation back to God.
  2. Josiah shows the influence and impact purposeful leadership can have, even from someone young. Josiah’s single-minded leadership to please God went beyond the borders of Judah to impact people in Israel, outside his realm in Judah.
  3. God has given each of us our own responsibilities. King Josiah shows us that those responsibilities are primarily about pleasing God. So, in our engagement in the different spheres in life, we need to stay faithful to God’s purpose and avoid the attractiveness of other pursuits. The world’s problems are spiritual, not political. The Church’s primary task is to proclaim the gospel and bring people under Christ’s lordship. Let’s not get sidetracked from our main mission!

See attached outline for your further reference.

May God, through these elections, give us purposeful leaders.
